When my Brother Rick died last November from non-smoker’s lung cancer, our hearts were shattered and our world turned upside down. Many wonderful people came to our family’s side and asked, “What can I do?” My answer then is the same as it is now: Pray for Rick and for our family’s healing through this horrific time of grief, stay close to us and to your loved ones all the more, and if you are able- please support efforts to fight this deadly disease that is on the rise. The absolute best way to do that is to donate to the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation. I’ve seen firsthand the great work they do to fund cutting-edge research, raise public awareness, and guide lung cancer patients through the foggy maze of treatment options- ultimately adding precious time to people’s lives just like they did for Rick.
Each year, more people die of lung cancer than of colon, breast, and prostate cancers combined, yet lung cancer remains chronically underfunded due to the stigma of smoking. That's despicable! Everyone deserves a fighting chance. YOU DON’T HAVE TO SMOKE TO GET LUNG CANCER, YOU JUST HAVE TO BREATHE!
To raise money and awareness, Team RICK STRONG will be walking again this year in the annual Your Next Step is the Cure 5K on Sept. 17th in Hollywood, FL in honor of my beloved, funny, adored, witty, playful, charismatic, one-of-a-kind, irreplaceable and deeply missed Brother Rick. Please join us or sponsor me as I walk in his memory. With all the fundraising for worthy causes out there today, I know it’s a lot to ask, and believe me it’s not easy. But it’s just so vital; so please consider giving $15, $20 or more… every dollar counts and is appreciated beyond measure! Thank you again and again for your unending love and support!!
With a grateful heart, Julie and Family xoxo
